Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) is pain in the lower back area, more precisely in the location between the angle of the lower ribs to the sacrum area. Every year2%-5% of employees in industrialized countries each year experience low back pain, and 15% of absenteeism in the steel industry and trade industry is caused by low back pain. The general purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with low back pain in courier workers at the Shopee Express Pamulang warehouse, South Tangerang. This type of research uses observational analytic with a cross sectional approach. This study uses a simple random sampling technique where the total population is 110 respondents. The statistical test used is chi square. The results of this study showed that the majority, as many as 74 respondents (92.5%) with no complaints category. Based on the length of sitting as many as 71 respondents (88.8%) sat for a long duration of > 4 hours. Then based on the sitting position as many as 77 respondents (96.2%) in the non-ergonomic category. A total of 61 respondents (76.2%) only worked for < 5 years. A total of 58 respondents (72.5%) were in the category of young age <35 years. And as many as 46 respondents (57.5%) in the category of disability – mild – moderate. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between body mechanics and experiencing low back pain (P-value 0.036). Age (P-value 0.001). And there is no relationship between long sitting and experiencing low back pain (P-value 0.726). Sitting position (P-value 0.572). Service period (P-value 0.119). The results of this study are expected to be a solution and understanding for shopee express workers and warehouses should have regular work shifts.
