Abstract
Background Dysmenorrhea is abdominal pain that often occurs during menstruation. Dysmenorrhea is divided into two types: primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea occurs without any reproductive abnormalities while secondary dysmenorrhea occurs when there are abnormalities in the reproductive organs. The high prevalence and morbidity of dysmenorrhea can hamper daily activities. There are many ways to reduce dysmenorrhea both through pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. One way to reduce dysmenorrhea is by consuming basil leaf decoction. Purpose of this research is to provide midwifery care to Ms. S 21 years old with primary dysmenorrhea through complementary therapy of basil leaf decoction. Method this study used SOAP management. Results of this study conducted for 2 days showed that Ms. S did not feel menstrual pain again on the 2nd day of menstruation after being given care to reduce menstrual pain with basil leaf decoction water.
